Besides helping people avail various services, benefits with ease, and effecting last mile financial inclusion, Aadhaar has a humane face too. It is paving the way to reunion of missing children with their families. So far, over 660 missing children have been united with their families and loved ones. The combined role of UIDAI and its regional offices, state and district administrations, civil society groups, and police has made this possible. Timely Aadhaar enrolment and Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) at the age of 5 and again at 15, plays a crucial role in ensuring the correct identification of children during such scenarios. To encourage timely completion and make services easily accessible, UIDAI has waived the charges for MBU for children in the 7–15 years age group from 1 October 2025. MBU for children in the 5–7 years and 15–17 years age groups continue to be free of charge. So, technically MBU is now free between the ages of 5-17 years till 30 Sept 2027. #Aadhaar #MBU #MissingChildren #HumaneFace #Families
